Serenity
A calm-down space that goes wherever you need it.
Serenity is an accessible, affordable and fully customizable calm-down space in virtual reality. When someone feels overwhelmed, they slip a phone into a simple viewer and return to a calm 360° place they've visited many times before, then come back ready. Everyone finds peace somewhere different, so every part of Serenity can be shaped to fit the person using it.
A few places to find your peace
These are simplified previews of each theme, built for this city. The real scenes in Serenity are far more detailed, with richer light, sound and motion.
How it works
- 01Pick your placeA garden waterfall, quiet snowy mountains, a warm desert oasis and more. Choose whatever feels calm, then come back to it as often as you like. Somewhere familiar is part of what makes it calming.
- 02Make it yoursTurn color, warmth and sound up or down, and set the pace of the breathing light. The space adapts to the person, not the other way around.
- 03Come back readyNo trip to another room and no corner to clear out. A few minutes, then back to the day.
The problem
Traditional calm-down spaces cost $45 to $400, need 8 to 20 square feet, and stay behind in a single room. They also offer the exact same experience to everyone, even though what calms one person can easily overwhelm another.
Our approach
Serenity puts the calm-down space on a phone, so it comes with you for a fraction of the cost. Wherever you are, you return somewhere familiar. Every setting adjusts, so each person can shape a space that works well for them.
The research
We're proud to build Serenity alongside published research, and fortunate to work with researchers at the University of Arkansas, the University of Kansas and the University of Miami. What we learn shapes every new version.
